The brief
An editor built around the publication's story formats
VETTDD publishes interviews, analysis, news briefs, and expert columns on business technology. It earns from advertising and sponsored company hubs, so adverts and sponsor pages had to be managed alongside the stories.
It wanted to leave WordPress and run on its own editor, without losing any article or the address it lives at.
The problem
A WordPress site built from plugins
The site ran on WordPress with a page builder, a theme, and a set of plugins. Its 47 posts sat across 19 categories that no longer matched what the publication covers.
What we built
A publication on Next.js and Payload, with every address kept
We moved the articles, images, and addresses from WordPress into the Payload editor, with Next.js pages hosted on Cloudflare. Each article kept its address, and the old category addresses redirect to six new sections.
Each story format has its own layout, and the admin handles the adverts, the VETTDD 50 lists, and the sponsored company hubs.
Four story formats
Interview, Brief, Analysis, and Expert Column, each with its own layout. A Brief carries a fixed box explaining what the news means for readers of its section.

Six sections
The stories are grouped into six sections, with redirects from the old categories.

The VETTDD 50
Ranked lists with a profile page for each person or company.

Sponsored company hubs
A company gets its own hub, with a disclosure shown when the hub is sponsored.

Advert slots
Banner and square adverts are set in the admin for the homepage, articles, and sidebars.

A page cache
Pages are served from a cache, and publishing a story refreshes it.
Screens
A section page on desktop, tablet, and phone
The AI section on a desktop, a tablet, and a phone. On a desktop the latest story sits beside an advert. On a phone the stories stack and the format filters wrap onto two lines.

The outcome
The archive moved across at the same addresses
VETTDD went live on its own editor on 26 September 2026. Every article kept its address, so links from search results and other sites still reach the right story.
